Netnod Tech Meeting 2026
On 6 October 2026, Elizabeth Boswell from the group attended the Netnod Tech Meeting in Stockholm. Netnod is a Swedish Internet infrastructure organisation, which operates one of the root servers of the Domain Name Systems, and provides Internet Exchange Points and network time services for Sweden. The Netnod Tech Meeting brings together network operators and other industry practitioners to discuss topics related to Internet infrastructure.
At the meeting, Elizabeth presented on our research on the AS112 network. AS112 is a volunteer-run anycast DNS deployment, which responds to DNS queries that were leaked from internal networks, in order to reduce the load that these queries place on the rest of the DNS. The presentation featured our research on AS112 deployment characteristics, recently published in PAM, and results from an ongoing analysis of AS112 query logs, showing that AS112 receives a large volume of queries that could be misused by a malicious operator.
The meeting featured many interesting talks and panel discussion on a variety of topics, including Ukrainian Internet resilience, BGP route leakage, and a recent NTP outage. It was also a great opportunity to discuss AS112 with network operators, many of which were interested in contributing to the project.
We are very grateful to Netnod for the invitation, and for providing a travel grant, which made this trip possible.
