Passive and Active Measurement Conference 2026
Elizabeth Boswell from the group attended the Passive and Active Measurement Conference, which was held online on 23-25 March 2026. She presented the paper Black Holes and Prisoners: Understanding AS112 Deployment Characteristics, which was created in collaboration with Colin Perkins from IPL, Stephen McQuistin from St Andrews, and Xinyan Xian and Mingshu Wang from the School of Geographical & Earth Sciences at the University of Glasgow. We performed a comprehensive measurement of the volunteer-run AS112 DNS deployment, which responds to leaked ‘‘junk queries’’ (e.g. reverse DNS queries for local addresses) in order to reduce the load that these queries place on the rest of the DNS.
The conference featured many interesting talks, including research on government hosting in Argentina, using Wikimedia edit logs to infer IPv6 usage, and the prevelance of passkey authentication.
